Coca-Cola is for the first time the main sponsor of Sweden's largest television event, which attracts a total of 20 million viewers, the Melodifestivalen.

For the next three years, Coca-Cola is for the first time the main sponsor of Sweden's largest television event, which attracts a total of 20 million viewers, the Melodifestivalen.


There is hardly anything more Swedish than Melodifestivalen, right? Every year, the Swedes flock in front of the TV screens - or on site at the preliminary competitions and the final - to see if the right song wins. Few events during the year give rise to such attention in the media and social media as Melodifestivalen. It is an event that is truly seen everywhere.


This year will be something very special in that Sweden will defend Måns Zelmerlöv's victory in the Eurovision Song Contest on home soil. Coca-Cola is then in place in Sweden through a three-year agreement as one of five main sponsors of Melodifestivalen (the others are Coop, Elon, Marabou and 321 Telenor).


- We are proud to be the new exclusive beverage supplier for Melodifestivalen. Coca-Cola is a global brand, but it is important for us to build relationships with our consumers at a local level. In Sweden, 95% of all our drinks are produced in Jordbro near Stockholm and we want to use our local assets in a context that is relevant to our consumers. Melodifestivalen is an excellent such occasion. With 3 million viewers each week, Mello is the event that brings families and friends together on Saturday night. This year it will be bigger than ever with all the fantastic artists who will participate and the Eurovision final which will be held in Stockholm in May, says Jon Aleksander Naess, marketing director for Coca-Cola Enterprises Sweden.


Coca-Cola has been creating joy for consumers for over 100 years. Through its sponsorship of the Melodifestivalen, the relationship with the Swedes is further strengthened through visibility during all competitions and finally the final.


Coca-Cola works in close collaboration with many of its customers with the campaign and competitions that go by the name "Steal the limelight". Among other things, there will be an opportunity in store to win vip packages for the final by sharing photos on Instagram with the hashtag #cokerampljuset. A price that money can't buy!
